Green Meadows Park

Little park on the south side of town

Green Meadows Park is officially located at 1600 West 39th St.  The streetside parking there is the only parking for this relatively small park on the south side of Casper.  It has a one picnic table under a shelter and a nice little playground for the kids (at heart!).  A single portable restroom is the only form of relief around, but at least it does have that.  Like a fair number of parks in Casper, there is a decent sized grassy area that is obviously well kept and mowed on a regular basis, but the majority of the park is actually an unkempt, "wilderness" area.  On the northeast side of grassy area, right next to the gravel road, there is a path that winds down the hill to the creek.  Crossing the bridge leads to another grassy area that is hard to tell whether it is public or private land, but there is a walk-in entrance from Carmel Rd just to the northwest of the bridge.

Green Meadows is a nice little park to come to for lunch on a nice day, but being a smaller park, there isn't much to do there otherwise.  The trail is nice for a short walk, and if you don't mind bending over or you're kid height, you can wander into the brush by the creek on some paths; unfortunately, there are a couple of spots where people have set up "camp" with a fire pit (pretty sure that's a bad idea there) and some lawn chairs with lots of trash as you can see in the pictures.

Overall, a nice little park for a brief visit if you work or live in the area, but nothing you need to go out of your way to visit.  :-)

Casper, Wyoming

This is long overdue, but that's the way I am! My last update was over a year ago when many decisions and life changes lay before Jess and I. Now, we've survived many of those, but look forward to all the new ones we'll have again someday. For the time being, we found a home in Casper, WY, a great little city in the beautiful state of Wyoming. Jess recently started a blog for the two of us that details some of our life adventures. Since that aspect is taken care of, I've got another new website for Firerobin Solutions, my new business, that I've started. I'm starting out as a technology consultant, website developer, and photographer (just for good measure). They say you should narrow your business to focus exclusively on one thing, but I figure I've got a while to get there, so why not start broad and see where it goes.  I've been told that I'm quite knowledgeable and good in all three of those areas, so we'll see what happens!

So, finally to the re-purposing of this blog. We've had a wonderful time getting to know Casper and all there is to do and see. So, I thought it would be fun to share what there is to do in Casper with the rest of the world. I'm going to be posting about the sights and sounds, the food and entertainment, and anything else that seems like a good idea for Casper!

There is already a great website to find out what's happening around Casper that is updated by the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. They do a terrific job of listing events going on all over the region and allow anyone with a public event to submit their info and get listed. I'll probably refer to them quite a bit in the future. In addition to events, they also have a pretty good list of things to do, attractions, etc., but most of it is your standard PR blurbs, and I'm hoping to add a little more life and detail to the places we've found most interesting (or maybe not!). Hopefully it'll help a few people here and there maybe decide where to go or what to do.

Anyway, thanks for visiting and I hope you'll come back often!

Adaptaplug polarity

Adaptaplug polarity, originally uploaded by nealf5.

This is just an FYI in case anyone stumbles upon it. I had a hard time finding the information I was looking for online for Radio Shack's Adaptaplug size A. I needed to know which prong was positive and which was negative (which was the 'tip' and which was the 'sleeve'). As you can see in the picture, the left prong when the plug is pointing towards you (marked with black) goes to the sleeve (which is usually negative). The right prong goes to the tip. Hope this might help someone!
